Wonderful Water is the theme for the 2024/25 Rotary Young Photographer & Young Artist Competitions.
A spokesperson for Ilkley Wharfedale Rotary said:
“Are you aged between 7 and 17 on 31st August 2024 and can take a photograph that makes an arresting image or can you create an artwork that makes people stop and think? Could you impress the judges in your age group? This is your chance to show your talent, perhaps win a worthwhile prize and perhaps also advance to the District and National level competitions.”
The age categories are:
- Junior – ages 7 to 10
- Intermediate – ages 11 to 13
- Senior – ages 14 to 17
First prize in each age group for best photograph and best artwork in the Local Competition is £30 and entry into the Yorkshire/District Competition. Second prize is £20 and third prize is £10.
The entrant must live in the Ilkley area or attend a school between Addingham and Burley-in-Wharfedale (inclusive).
The closing date for applications is midnight on December 6th, 2024. Judging will take place in January 2025 and every qualifying entrant will receive a certificate of participation.
Winners will go forward to the District Competition judged in March, and winners of that competition will proceed to a National level competition in April.
An entry form and full rules of the competition are available at https://www.rotary-ribi.org/clubs/homepage.php?ClubID=1826, anyone entering is asked to read the rules carefully before submitting photograph or artwork.
