Ilkley Grammar School celebrates another year of outstanding outcomes, where students continue to exceed national standards with well above average results.
Outstanding results across 25+ GCSE/ level 2 subjects showcases both the efforts and determination of the students, and the ambition of the school’s broad and varied curriculum. Carly Purnell, Headteacher of Ilkley Grammar School, remarked on students’ achievements and again praised the hard work, positive attitudes and commitment of the year 11 Class of 2025:
“We are immensely proud of our year 11 students and of the commitment, resilience and determination they have shown in achieving such exceptional GCSE and BTEC results. This cohort is particularly remarkable: having never sat formal SATs in year 6, their examinations were the first public tests they have experienced. The maturity, focus and diligence with which our Green Ties rose to that challenge makes their successes today all the more significant.
"Their impressive outcomes are also the result of true partnership. I would like to thank our dedicated staff, whose expertise and encouragement have supported students throughout their journey, and our families, who have worked positively alongside us to help students achieve their Personal Best.
"Today we celebrate not only the headline figures but, most importantly, the individual stories of ambition, perseverance and personal growth that make this year’s results so special. Congratulations and well-done Year 11 - we wish you all the very best as you take your next steps.”

Gemma Claughton, Deputy Headteacher: Quality of Education, added,
“This year’s fantastic results truly embody our Green Ties Year 11 cohort and our school mantra of ‘Personal Best’, with students carefully balancing ambition, responsibility and a resilient work ethic. Our students are about to take their next steps and we’re already looking forward to so many continuing their studies into Post-16 here at IGS. Well done Year 11- you have shown courage and character throughout your time here and we couldn’t be prouder of your achievements! We are already looking forward to celebrating individual results with staff, students and parents/ carers at the Year 11 Prize Presentation Evening in November.”
The school now looks forward to welcoming continued high numbers of students into Post-16, including those transferring from other providers. Limited space may still be available into IGS Post-16 from September 2025; late applications can be made via the Ilkley Grammar School website.
