A flood alert has been issued for the Upper River Wharfe amid heavy rainfall.
The flood alert is for low lying agricultural land and possibly minor roads in the valley floor, including Buckden, Bolton Abbey and Ilkley.
The Environment Agency say: "We are closely monitoring the situation. More heavy rainfall is forecast throughout today, Thursday 26/09/2024.
"Start acting on your flood plan if you have one. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 10:00 PM on 26/09/2024, or as the situation changes."
A flood alert is the first of three warnings that the Environment Agency can issue:
Flood Alert: Will warn people of the possibility of flooding and encourage them to be alert, stay vigilant and make early preparations for flooding. A Flood Alert will be issued earlier than a Flood Warning.
Flood Warning: Warns people about expected flooding and encourages them to take action to protect themselves and their property.
Severe Flood Warning: Will be used when there is a significant risk to life or significant disruption to communities. It will urge people to take action to protect themselves and follow the advice of the emergency services.
