One Tivoli Place Guest House is celebrating after winning Best Breakfast of the Year at the 2026 AA B&B Awards, while The Penny Bun in Askwith has been crowned Inn of the Year for England.
The awards are organised by AA Hotel & Hospitality Services and celebrate the very best of the UK independent short stay sector.
One Tivoli Place in Ilkley, owned by Rika Mitchell, specializes in authentic Japanese cuisine paired with the finest British and European fare and holds a four star AA rating. Writing about guest house the AA inspector said:
"One Tivoli Place is a charming Victorian townhouse that offers a welcoming base just a short stroll from Ilkley town centre and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside. The 5 individually designed bedrooms present a fresh, elegant style with quality furnishings, excellent comfort, and thoughtful extras including minibars, robes, and slippers. Dining is a standout feature, with Rika preparing authentic Japanese cuisine that brings a unique and memorable experience to the stay, complemented by carefully presented breakfasts each morning. Guests can unwind in the inviting lounge, complete with books and a piano, or take advantage of useful local information to explore the area."
and added:
"A perfect place to stay for those who really enjoy Japanese cuisine."

After being crowned Inn of the Year for England, The Penny Bun will now go forward to compete for the overall coveted UK title, which will be announced at the AA Hospitality Awards in September.
The AA inspector commented how "This is the place to go off-grid. Bedrooms with no TVs.", adding:
"The Penny Bun is a new-age inn, part of Denton Reserve, a project which aims to rethink 2,500 acres of Yorkshire countryside while combating climate change. Inside, the style is very earthy, with brown tones, sustainable materials, clay-plaster walls, wood beams and moody lighting. There are 5 screen-free bedrooms upstairs, all of which feature furniture and accessories from independent craftspeople or companies that value sustainability and quality. Meals are served downstairs, in a restaurant with a strong 'Field to Fork' ethos."
