Two Rivers Concert Band will unpack a treasure trove of Christmas delights at its Christmas Concert at Ilkley Baptist Church on Sunday 7 December.
The concert will start at 3pm at the church on King's Road and tickets cost £10, under 16s go free,
Kate Plant from the Two Rivers Concert Band said:
"Every Christmas schedule needs a rousing musical, and this year we open our concert with a selection of anthems from The Greatest Showman. Staying in film mode, we move on to Paul Dukas’ Sorcerer’s Apprentice, famously used as a musical backdrop to Mickey Mouse’s hapless wannabe wizard in Fantasia. Back in the real world, we’ll whisk you away on a Fairytale trip to New York, before our energetic first half finisher, an exciting take on We Three Kings, in the fast movement of A Christmas Suite.
"After a short break for some Festive refreshments, there are more treats in store in a second half which includes a selection of famous film themes in Young Person’s Guide to John Williams and Queen’s totally awesome Bohemian Rhapsody.
"To add to the festive vibe, we’ve interspersed our concert with some of our favourite carols, with words for those who enjoy a sing-along. And, of course, no Christmas would be complete without Leroy Anderson’s Christmas Festival; see how many of the carols you can name."
Tickets are available from Grove Bookshop in Ilkley, on line at www.tworiversbands.org.uk or can also be bought on the door.
The concert will include a collection in aid of The Swan Song Project, a Leeds based charity that helps those dealing with the end stages of life to leave a musical legacy for their loved ones.
Kate adds:
"So, join us as we celebrate all things Christmassy, under the baton of our musical director, Gregory Moor.
"We look forward to welcoming you to our concert!"
