Outdoor retailer Alpkit is set to close its Ilkley store later this summer, bringing an end to more than five years on Station Road.
The company has confirmed that its Ilkley shop at 7 Station Road will close on Sunday 6th September with a closing-down sale now underway offering 40% off all remaining stock.
Alpkit Ilkley first opened its doors in Ilkley in July 2021, with the company describing the town as a particularly special location because of its proximity to the Yorkshire Dales.
When it launched, Alpkit said it wanted the store to become an outdoor adventure hub for local residents and visitors, with events, courses, group bike rides and walks planned alongside the retail offering.
The closure comes during a significant period of change for Alpkit.
The British outdoor brand went into administration in January 2026 before securing new investment and beginning a restructuring of the business.
The company has since announced plans to simplify its product range and concentrate investment on its remaining stores.
Of Alpkit's ten UK stores, Ilkley and Inverness are the two locations due to close, while seven stores will remain open and receive investment in refreshed layouts and locally curated ranges.
The Kingston store is also relocating.
For customers in Ilkley, however, attention is now turning to the final weeks of the Station Road shop.
The company is encouraging customers to make the most of the closing sale before the store permanently shuts.
