Ilkley Civic Society launches search for the town's best building and conservation projects

Ilkley Civic Society.

Residents are being encouraged to nominate building and environmental projects for the Ilkley Civic Society Awards 2026.

The annual awards celebrate developments that have made a positive contribution to the appearance and character of Ilkley and the surrounding area, recognising high standards of design, conservation and environmental improvement.

This year's awards are divided into three categories:

  • Design – for new buildings or extensions
  • Conservation – for work carried out on historic buildings or features
  • Improvements – for smaller projects or environmental enhancements

To be eligible, projects must have been substantially completed by 31st July 2026.

The Civic Society presents both Awards for outstanding projects and Commendations for schemes that have also helped enhance the town.

Anyone can submit a nomination, including members of the public, community groups, property owners, architects and developers.

Successful projects will be recognised at a certificate presentation ceremony due to take place in October 2026, with the Society also promoting the achievements of the winners afterwards.

The Ilkley Civic Society says previous winners have gone on to receive regional recognition from professional organisations within the construction industry.

Anyone wishing to nominate a project, or invite the Society to assess the exterior of a property, is asked to contact the Ilkley Civic Society at  planning@civicsociety.ilkley.org

The Society hopes this year's awards will once again highlight the high-quality architecture, restoration work and environmental improvements that continue to shape Ilkley and preserve its distinctive character.
