From gripping wartime drama and Shakespearean classics to live music, comedy, literature and festive family favourites, Ilkley Playhouse has unveiled an exciting Autumn/Winter 2026/27 programme packed with something for everyone.
The new season promises six months of entertainment, with performances staged by the Ilkley Players alongside visiting musicians, comedians, theatre companies and the return of the renowned Ilkley Literature Festival.
Audiences can pick up a copy of the new programme from Ilkley Playhouse, local libraries, shops, the Tourist Information Office and the Clarke Foley Centre.
The theatre season begins in September with Noel Coward's Private Lives, a glamorous comedy of romance, wit and chaos set on the French Riviera.
Later in the autumn comes David Haig's acclaimed wartime thriller Pressure, telling the true story behind the weather forecast that shaped the D-Day landings.
Christmas brings a magical adaptation of Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days, promising an adventure the whole family can enjoy, before the new year opens with the spy drama Pack of Lies and concludes the theatre season with an intimate new production of Shakespeare's Hamlet in the Wildman Studio.
Alongside the main productions, audiences can also look forward to two fringe shows.
The much-loved Bard in the Yard returns over the August Bank Holiday weekend with performances of The Merchant of Venice and Much Ado About Nothing, including open-air performances in the beautiful surroundings of Ilkley Manor House Yard. Later in September, Bradford writer Tajinder Singh Hayer's North Country explores survival and rebuilding society in a post-pandemic world.
Beyond theatre, Ilkley Playhouse will once again become a cultural hub for the town.
The annual Ilkley Literature Festival returns in October with author talks, poetry and panel discussions, while regular comedy nights continue with Stagefright Comedy Club welcoming comedian Bobby Mair this autumn.
Music lovers also have plenty to look forward to, with performances from local favourites Ten Fields, John Denver tribute artist Chris Bannister, the Hall Brothers, Fire and Rain, Disco Divas, Holly Taymar and the Jon Palmer Acoustic Band all taking to the stage over the coming months.
The season also includes arts and literature courses, while Rise and Howl Collective return with their latest production, Trappings, following the success of last season's performances.
Looking ahead, Ilkley Playhouse has already revealed an exciting Spring/Summer 2027 programme, with season tickets available for those looking to enjoy the full range of Wharfeside Theatre productions.
With an eclectic mix of classic theatre, live music, comedy, literature and family entertainment, Ilkley Playhouse is set to welcome audiences for another memorable season of culture in the heart of the town.
