Organisers of the Ilkley Half Marathon & 5K have confirmed a record-breaking start to entries, with more than 500 runners taking advantage of the early-bird entry offer in its first week.
The event, organised by the Ilkley & District Round Table, will return on July 12th 2026, promising another day of scenic running and family-friendly celebration.
Starting and finishing in the heart of Ilkley, the half marathon route takes runners on a stunning tour of the Wharfe Valley, showcasing rolling countryside, river views, and the dramatic backdrop of Ilkley Moor. The course is known for its balance of challenge and beauty, drawing runners from across Yorkshire and beyond.
Pete Haigh, Race Director for the 2026 Ilkley Half Marathon, said:
“The response has been fantastic. To see over 500 entries in just seven days shows how much people love this event. The scenery, the atmosphere, and the crowds make it a highlight of the running calendar - and we’re already on course for another incredible turnout.”
In addition to the main race, the Ilkley 5K provides a shorter, accessible option for newcomers, families, and fun runners. Both distances finish at the Event Village on West Holmes Field, which will feature live music, food and drink stalls, charity stands, and family entertainment throughout the day.

Another Ilkley Round Table member spoke about the Event Village being the heart of the day:
“It’s where runners, friends, and families come together to celebrate - and the support from spectators along the route really makes the event special.”
The Ilkley Half Marathon regularly attracts thousands of spectators who line the streets to cheer runners on, creating one of the most vibrant and supportive atmospheres of any race in the region. All proceeds from the event support local charities and community projects, continuing Ilkley & District Round Table’s long tradition of giving back.
With such strong early demand, organisers are advising runners to enter early to secure a place before the event reaches capacity. Entries: https://ilkleyhalfmarathon.co.uk/
