The local community is invited to a Great Get Together event happening at The Ilkley Market on The Grove this Saturday between 12pm and 3pm.
Events are happening all around the country organised by The Jo Cox Foundation and organisers say it is a chance to celebrate what makes Ilkley such a lovely community, and also to meet new people, chat with neighbours, and spend time together in the heart of town.
A spokesperson for The Ilkley Market said:
"It is not about making it a big formal event - just a nice reason to come together, say hello and make connections.
"Bring the kids down, come with friends or just on your own, enjoy some jazz on the bandstand and celebrate community in the heart of Ilkley.
"There will be a warm welcome, face painting, as well as children's activities provided by Sponge Tree – for ages 2 to 92.
"Free hot drink and cake, always a bonus! Find us at the yellow Defender coffee van Buzz Coffee in the centre of the market right by the bandstand. We would love to see you!"
The Great Get Together began in response to the tragic murder of Jo Cox MP and has grown into a nationwide celebration of connection, community, and togetherness. Over the past ten years, millions of people across the UK have taken part in street parties, community picnics, runs, coffee mornings, and other local gatherings — all inspired by Jo’s belief that we have 'more in common than that which divides us'.
