A woman suffered a fall on Ilkley Moor Sunday afternoon [28 December 2025] and first on the scene were the volunteers from Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) who after assessing the casualty determined she was suffering from stage 1 hypothermia
The UWFRA team were called out to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service following reports of a lady who had fallen at the Cow and Calf and sustained a lower leg injury.
A spokesperson for Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association said on the associations Facebook page:
"The first team members arrived on scene where they assessed the casualty, provided initial first aid and made her as comfortable as possible while awaiting the arrival of YAS. During this initial assessment, the team also determined that the casualty was suffering from stage 1 hypothermia, and appropriate measures were taken to help manage this.
"On arrival, medical care was handed over to YAS and, once the casualty was stabilised, the team quickly formulated an evacuation plan. This involved a short stretcher carry back to the waiting double crew ambulance.
"Our thanks go to all team members involved, both on & off scene, and to Yorkshire Ambulance Service for their continued teamwork and professionalism.
"If you are out and about walking over the next few days, please remember to wrap up warm, as it is very cold out there.
"We wish the casualty a very speedy recovery."
