Ilkley is set to host its first Discover Ilkley Pumpkin Festival this half term, with ten days of free family activities planned across the town.
The festival will run from Friday 23rd October until Sunday 1st November, featuring pumpkin carving, a town centre trail and Halloween-themed activities. A special day of free activities will take place at Canker Well on The Grove on Wednesday 28th October from 10.30am until 4pm. Professional artists Sand In Your Eye will host a pumpkin-carving demonstration, while families will also be able to take part in free pumpkin lantern-making workshops throughout the day. There will be a Pumpkin Patch where visitors can choose their own pumpkin to carve, alongside Halloween-themed backdrops for families to take photographs. Throughout the festival, 17 Ilkley businesses will also be taking part in a Pumpkin Trail, with each creating and displaying its own carved pumpkin. Families can follow the trail around the town and find the different creations, with those taking part given the chance to win a £50 Ilkley Gift Card. Trail leaflets can be downloaded from the Discover Ilkley website or collected from Nora's Interiors & Gifts, Games Crusade and Moor Fruit & Veg. Organisers said: “Get the date in your diary and join us for some free half-term fun in Ilkley!” The pumpkin carving event has received grant funding from Ilkley Town Council, while Tesco and Booths have donated pumpkins for the festival's Pumpkin Patch.
