Over the May Day bank holiday weekend, Ilkley Manor House showcases two exhibitions across one creative weekend.
The Ilkley Arts studio opens its doors for a free Drawing and Painting Exhibition, showcasing a wide selection of original works for sale by local artists.
The exhibition brings together members working across drawing and painting practices, presenting a range of approaches from contemporary abstract work to detailed observational studies. Visitors are invited into the studio to view the work at close range and engage directly with the artists, many of whom will be present throughout the weekend.
The Solar and Western Galleries at Ilkley Manor House are hosting a show by Leeds Fine Artists. Opening on Saturday 2nd May, it features an eclectic mix of painting, prints and sculpture. This is a large, celebratory group show by 30 members of LFA who work all over Yorkshire and will be on display at the manor house weekends until 31 May.
Together, the two exhibitions offer plenty to explore, whether you’re an art regular or just curious. Either way, you can expect a warm welcome.
Ilkley Arts is a volunteer-run charitable organisation dedicated to promoting and celebrating the arts in Ilkley and the surrounding area, and to enriching the cultural life of residents and visitors. A central part of its work is supporting artists to develop and present their practice through accessible exhibition opportunities. Ilkley Arts welcomes new artists interested in exhibiting, collaborating, or contributing to its wider activities.
This Members’ Exhibition forms part of that ongoing support, offering an informal setting in which work can be seen in context and conversations can take place directly between artists and visitors.
The Drawing and Painting Exhibition takes place 2nd to 4th May at Ilkley Arts Studio, opening Saturday & Sunday: 10am–4pm and Monday: 10am–3.30pm.
Ilkley Manor House is usually open Every Saturday and Sunday 11am - 4pm. Further details of events at the manor house can be found at www.ilkleymanorhouse.org/whats-on
