Billy's Bus hosts first wellness walk in Ilkley

The first wellness walk.

Billy’s Bus first Wellness Walk, held in partnership with Andy’s Man Club Ilkley and WellWalk CIC, saw a group of local people come together for a two-hour walk across the moors.

The walk began at 9.30am, with participants making their way up into the Ilkley countryside before finishing with a well-earned coffee.

There was also a treat for four-legged walkers, with Billy’s Ice Cream for Pups on hand at the end of the walk.

The walk was designed to offer more than just exercise, providing an opportunity for people to get out of the house, meet others and spend time in the outdoors.

Owner of Billy's Bus said:

"It was just wonderful to see so many strangers share their stories with one another, help each other with the climb, enjoy the exercise and take in the stunning scenery on our doorstep.

"Whether it’s for company, to get your steps in, to be part of the community or even just to meet the boss, Billy.

"Please join us for our monthly walks and get out the house and into the fresh air."

Organisers are now encouraging people to join the monthly walks, whether they are looking for some company, hoping to get their steps in, want to meet others in the community or simply want to meet Billy, the four-legged face behind the walks.

Billy’s Bus, the UK’s first dog bus, gives dogs an adventure away from home, collecting them before taking them to a secure Bark Park on the Ilkley moors for exercise, play and socialisation.

The service was created by Laura Mohan and inspired by her Cavapoo, Billy, who needed more exercise and socialisation than a traditional dog walk could provide.

The monthly walks are open to anyone who would like to take part.
