Fire crews in Ilkley were called to reports of a BBQ on Ilkley Moor at the weekend, the use of BBQs is prohibited along with camp fires, Chinese lanterns and fireworks.
Posting on its Facebook page, Ilkley Fire Station said:
"Yesterday (Saturday) evening we were mobilised to reports of a BBQ on the moor. Thankfully the incident was brought to a swift close and no fire damage found on the moorland, as those who had lit the bbq did so on a rock.
"This being said, we'd like to reiterate that there are no fires or bbqs permitted anywhere on our moorland. The weather has been extremely dry over the past few days which increases the risk of a fire occurring. There is still a PSPO in place which means a fine of up to £2,500 for those offending.
"Please respect the moorland- No fires, No BBQs, and please take your litter with you."
Bradford Council introduced a Public Space Protection Order [PSPO] in 2019 which prohibits the use of barbecues, fires, Chinese lanterns, fireworks and anything else which could cause a fire. on Ilkley Moor.
