Fresh handmade bread coming to Three Little Birds in Ilkley

The independent bakery has teamed up with Harrogate's The Secret Bakery to offer freshly made sourdough.

Fresh handmade bread is being added to the shelves at Three Little Birds Bakery in Ilkley following growing demand from customers.

The independent bakery has teamed up with Harrogate's The Secret Bakery to offer freshly made sourdough alongside its usual selection of cakes, macarons, cookies and other sweet treats.

Three Little Birds, which has bakeries in Ilkley and Keighley, said customers had been regularly asking whether it could start stocking bread.

After seeing the requests on social media, The Secret Bakery approached the business about working together.

Three Little Birds owner Bec said:

“People have been asking about bread for years, but we knew we'd never make it ourselves.

“Opening in Ilkley, we've been inundated with requests for bread, so when the Secret Bakery got in touch it just seemed like a perfect opportunity.

“The fact that everything is homemade and they only use a few simple ingredients really aligns with our values.

“More people are turning to bread which isn't as highly processed. I'd love to plug that gap so more people have access to handmade bread. And it's absolutely delicious!”

White and wholemeal sourdough loaves will now be available at the Ilkley and Keighley bakeries from Tuesday to Saturday.

Special varieties, including rosemary and sea salt focaccia, will also be available on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Secret Bakery is a micro artisan bakery and coffee shop based on Knaresborough Road in Harrogate and is a member of the Real Bread Campaign.

James from The Secret Bakery said:

“I saw some posts on Facebook from Three Little Birds saying they were being inundated with requests for bread.

“As we're local and bake fresh loaves every week, I thought I'd drop them a line.

After a few emails and a meeting, and letting them sample our bread, we were delighted to hear from Bec that they loved the bread and would like to work with us.

“We are proud of our artisan bread, made fresh and by hand Monday to Saturday each week.

“We are delighted to be working with Three Little Birds and we can't wait to get started.”
