Ilkley restaurant Forde features on Channel 5's Our Great Yorkshire Life

Forde Restaurant, Ilkley.

Ilkley restaurant Forde Ilkley has appeared on Channel 5 as part of the latest episode of Our Great Yorkshire Life.

Chef Matt Healy featured in the second episode of the new series, which aired last night (Friday 18th September), as he explored the story behind Yorkshire Dama Cheese and brought one of its products back to the Ilkley restaurant.

Chef Matt Healy is a recurring chef on the Channel 5 show.

Healy met Razan Alsous, founder and owner of Yorkshire Dama Cheese, to learn more about the company's award-winning "squeaky cheese".

Razan arrived in Yorkshire from Syria with her husband and three children in 2012.

After struggling to find work despite her scientific background, she spotted an opportunity to produce the type of squeaky cheese she had grown up eating in Syria using locally sourced Yorkshire milk.

During Our Great Yorkshire Life, Healy visited Razan to find out more about the cheese and her story before using the product to create a new dish.

He then returned to Forde, on South Hawksworth Street in Ilkley, where he cooked the squeaky cheese for Razan herself.

The segment saw Healy combine inspiration from Razan's Middle Eastern heritage with Yorkshire produce to create the restaurant dish.

Forde is a small plates restaurant and wine bar run by Healy in Ilkley town centre.

Our Great Yorkshire Life aired on Channel 5 on Friday evening.
