Former Ilkley Mayor standing for Liberal Democrats in Bradford elections

Bradford Liberal Democrats have announced their candidate. Mark Stidworthy, for the Ilkley and Addingham Ward in the Bradford Council elections on 7 May.

Mark, a former town councillor who chaired Ilkley Town Council as Mayor between 2019 and 2023, said:

“Labour’s leadership of Bradford Council has become complacent, improvements are slow, inefficient and costly, services are fragile and unresponsive to local need. Nationally, the Conservatives are largely responsible for the crisis in local government funding, particularly within social care, and locally they bring little except negativity. Reform’s divisive and dishonest posturing has nothing to offer.”

“Liberal Democrats have a strong record of getting things done in local government, robust environmental policies and deep concern for social justice. If elected on May 7th, I am determined Ilkley and Addingham’s voices will be heard more strongly as part of the wider community in Bradford. I will urge Bradford Council to be more responsive and active alongside the Town and Parish Councils, local businesses and voluntary and community organisations. We need to create opportunities for young people, support disadvantaged groups, protect the local economy and dramatically scale up our local response to the climate crisis. Please use one of your votes on May 7th to elect a distinct and thoughtful voice for our ward.”
