Right at Home Ilkley team takes on running challenge to support dementia charity

Right at Home Ilkley team.

The team from Right at Home Ilkley is taking on a series of running challenges to raise money for Dementia Adventure.

The initiative forms part of the home care provider’s team wellbeing programme, which has seen staff launch their own Run Club.

The social running group gives colleagues the opportunity to spend time together outside of work, get active and enjoy the benefits of being outdoors, while supporting both physical and mental wellbeing.

Managing Director Paresh Mistry and Registered Manager Samuel Harrop took part in the Ilkley Half Marathon on Sunday 12th July in aid of Dementia Adventure.

They are preparing to take on Malham Half Marathon on Saturday 5th September.

The fundraising is supporting Dementia Adventure, a charity which aims to help people living with dementia and their families remain active, connected and engaged in meaningful experiences.

Around 900,000 people in the UK are living with dementia, and a diagnosis can often lead to people becoming increasingly isolated.

Dementia Adventure takes a positive approach to dementia, focusing on the individual rather than their condition.

The charity provides supported holidays, training and research, with a focus on helping people overcome barriers, build confidence and continue enjoying active and adventurous experiences with family and friends.

The charity also highlights the benefits of spending time in nature, which can support health and wellbeing for people living with dementia.

Right at Home Ilkley is now encouraging members of the local community to support Paresh and Samuel's fundraising efforts.

The team said:

"We would be incredibly grateful for any support you can give, every donation, no matter the size, will help Dementia Adventure continue their vital work supporting people living with dementia and their families to stay active, connected, and enjoy meaningful experiences."
