Rotary Club of Ilkley announces new President

New President Chris Woodhead with current President Martin Smith.

The Rotary Club of Ilkley has announced Chris Woodhead as its new President Elect, with Chris set to take up the role of President at the beginning of July 2027.

Chris, pictured receiving the chain of office from current President Martin Smith, has lived in Ilkley with his wife Vera for 30 years.

He recently retired as CEO of Advanced Actuators, a world-class engineering company based in Silsden.

Speaking about his appointment, Chris said he was looking forward to taking on the challenge and helping the club build on its work in the community.

He said:

“I am greatly looking forward to the challenge and hope to take the club to new heights.

“I have several plans already formulated.

I have been greatly moved by the support of the members and officers of the club and thank them for placing their trust in me.”

Chris will continue to work alongside the club's members and officers before officially taking over as President in July 2027.

The Rotary Club of Ilkley is part of Rotary International, with members involved in a range of community projects, fundraising activities and initiatives supporting local and wider causes.

The Rotary Club of Ilkley has been serving the local community for decades, with its members continuing to support projects and charitable causes across Ilkley, Wharfedale and beyond.
