Clarke Foley window replacement project underway

Work is underway to replace the windows at the Clarke Foley Community Hub

The Clarke Foley Community Hub in Ilkley has welcomed the start of a significant building improvement project this week, as work begins on replacing the original 1970s windows in its large and small halls.

The existing aluminium-framed windows were installed when the building was constructed over five decades ago. While they have stood the test of time, many of the frames now suffer from blown double glazing, cracked panes and poor insulation, contributing to heat loss and colder indoor spaces.

Thanks to a government grant awarded earlier this year, the Hub is now able to replace these ageing windows with modern UPVC double glazing, dramatically improving energy efficiency, comfort and the overall appearance of the building.

The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of April, and once finished will offer a noticeably warmer and more welcoming environment for the many community groups, organisations and individuals who use the Hub each week. Improvements will also be visible from outside, enhancing the building’s presence for those passing through Ilkley.

Rosie Reay, Manager of the Clarke Foley Community Hub said:

“These windows have been part of the building for over 50 years and have served us well, but this upgrade is essential for the future of the Hub. We’re incredibly grateful for the grant funding, which allows us to take a big step forward in making the building more comfortable, sustainable and fit for modern community use.”

Looking ahead, the Hub is now actively seeking funding opportunities to replace the remaining aluminium windows throughout the building, completing the upgrade and further reducing running costs.

Members of the public, local businesses or organisations interested in supporting the project are encouraged to contact the Clarke Foley Community Hub office to discuss contributions or ways to help. Please contact via email: marketing@clarkefoley.org.uk
