Ilkley businesses are getting into the spirit of this year’s Flower Show with a new wheelbarrow competition — but there’s not long left for businesses to get involved.

Ilkley BID has teamed up with the Ilkley Flower Show for the first time to launch the Blooming Ilkley wheelbarrow competition.

More than 20 local businesses have already signed up, each decorating a wheelbarrow around the ‘Blooming Ilkley’ theme and displaying their creations around the town.

Businesses taking part include The Hearing Suite, TaxAssist Accountants, 5th Avenue Clothes, Nora’s Interiors & Gifts and Skipton Building Society, with plenty of other colourful designs appearing around Ilkley.

The competition is aimed at giving local businesses the chance to get involved with the annual Flower Show while adding some floral displays around the town for residents and visitors to enjoy.

There is still time for businesses to take part, but the deadline for entries is Wednesday.

The finished wheelbarrows will be judged by Ilkley Flower Show patron Alan Titchmarsh, while members of the public will also have their say through a People’s Choice vote, with voting details to be announced.

The Ilkley Flower Show takes place on Saturday 19th September, with businesses encouraged to get involved in the Blooming Ilkley competition before entries close.
