An Ilkley fundraiser is aiming to raise £2,000 to help deliver vital humanitarian vehicles and children's books to Ukraine.
Chrissie Gale, a former international aid worker who spent 35 years specialising in child protection, will join a convoy travelling from the UK to Ukraine at the end of November.
The convoy, organised by Jeeps for Peace, aims to deliver up to 25 used jeeps to support humanitarian efforts in the war-torn country.
The vehicles will be used to transport essential supplies, including food and medicine, evacuate civilians from dangerous areas and carry wounded soldiers to medical facilities.
Chrissie, who now works as an academic, has been involved in supporting children in Ukraine since 2014 and has maintained close connections with colleagues and friends in the country.
She is hoping to raise £2,000 towards purchasing the jeep she will drive and covering the costs of transporting it to Ukraine, including fuel and ferry travel.
The fundraising effort will also help purchase children's books to take to Ukraine, where there is growing demand for English-language learning materials.
To support the appeal, professional yoga teacher Sandi is organising a special fundraising class at the Clarke Foley Centre in Ilkley.
The session will take place on Monday 9 November at 11am and is open to everyone, including complete beginners and experienced yoga participants.
Sandi has also spent many years working on international democracy issues and, like Chrissie, has longstanding connections with Ukraine.
Those attending the class will be invited to make a donation towards the fundraising appeal.
Places are limited, and anyone interested in taking part is asked to contact Sandi at sandinatureyoga@gmail.com.
Chrissie is also welcoming donations from anyone who would like to support the convoy and its humanitarian work.
