Ilkley Carnival has raised £18k for local good causes thanks to a year of incredible community involvement and support for the 2025 event.
Primary beneficiary Ben Rhydding Sports Club has received over £8,750, which members say will help to implement the club’s programme of flood defence works.
All profits raised from Ilkley Carnival go back into the community and the remaining funds are divided between local organisations who actively support and help at the annual event. Other local organisations receiving donations include Ilkley’s 1224 Air Cadets, Ilkley Grammar School, Love Burley, Clarke Foley, Ilkley Food Bank and Ilkley and District Good Neighbours.
Robin Snook, of Ben Rhydding Sports Club said:
“On behalf of the entire club, I want to thank the Ilkley Carnival committee for their hard work in delivering another amazing event, and for choosing Ben Rhydding Sports Club as this year’s main beneficiary.
“We are absolutely delighted with the donation, which will provide a massive and timely boost as we continue to implement our programme of flood defence works, which will help safeguard our playing surfaces and our clubhouse for future generations, for our members, and the many visitors and community users who use our facilities all year round.
“I would also like to thank all the many volunteers, not only from the different sections that comprise our sports club, but also from all the different local organisations who continue to give their time in support of the carnival, and we look forward to helping again next year!”
Ilkley Carnival 2025 was made possible this year with sponsorship and support from main sponsor First Bus, Bradford Grammar School, The Ilkley Flooring Company, Ilkley BID and Spellman Care.
Ilkley Carnival chair Andrew Stacey said:
“This year saw another incredible event for the community with £18k raised, bringing the total Ilkley Carnival has distributed throughout our community since 2012, to almost £170k.
“We didn’t have the best weather this year, our costs are increasing and as we know, competition for footfall was high on the day itself with other celebrations taking place across the region. While our profits are £4k short of last year, the money raised still makes a difference to many people and many organisations – and that is exactly why we do it.
“We’ve already started planning for next year we’d like to renew our plea again for more volunteers for 2026 and in particular, for anyone interested in joining our fantastic committee. Please do get in touch with me at chair@ilkleycarnival.org.”
