A new exhibition at Ilkley Manor House will look at The Great Flood that struck Ilkley in 1900.
On 12th July 1900, during a hot summer, there was a torrential thunderstorm over Ilkley Moor. The driving rain burst the town’s becks, demolishing buildings and tearing up streets.
Ilkley Civic Society’s [ICS] exhibition uses reports and photographs of the time to show the aftermath.
The exhibition will be on display from 14 June until 28 July. Ilkley Manor House is open weekends 11am until 4pm and entry is free.
In addition, ICS’s Alex Cockshott will provide a guided tour of the exhibition on Saturday 28 June at 2.45pm.
