Ilkley Musical Theatre Society's [IMTS] upcoming production of Annie is coming to the Kings Hall, Ilkley from 15th–18th April.
For this production IMTS are taking Annie back to its original 1920's comic book roots. Inspired by the world of Little Orphan Annie, the creative team have worked to recreate the black and white pages and exaggerated characters of the famous comic strip on stage.
Every costume, wig and prop has been carefully sourced or lovingly handmade, while a spectacular handcrafted set promises to make audiences feel as though the comic pages themselves have burst into life.

A spokesperson commented saying the production has been a true community effort:
"Since rehearsals began in November, a dedicated team of volunteers have been working tirelessly behind the scenes – building set pieces, painting scenery, crafting props, sewing costumes and doing their best to market the show.
"Many hours have been spent in workshops, living rooms and rehearsal spaces across the area to ensure that every detail helps bring this iconic story to life."
"On stage, the production features a cast of more than 40 performers aged from just 7 years old to over 80, showcasing the incredible range of talent within the local community. Leading the cast is Felicity Moore in the title role, whose performance promises warmth, charm and a voice that audiences won’t forget. Alongside her are the wonderfully energetic orphans, whose lively performances and infectious enthusiasm often steal the show. Every one of them is a future West End Star in the making and we are proud to call them our members. The adult cast and ensemble are also incredibly talented and even though the work is hard, there is plenty of evidence within our walls at Operatic House that they are having the best time."
Remarkably, the entire artistic vision for the show has been led by one man – Mark Allan, who has taken on the roles of Director, Choreographer and Vocal Coach. Under his guidance, the cast have spent months rehearsing to create a production packed with energy, humour and heart.
Audiences can look forward to all the beloved moments and unforgettable songs that have made Annie a family favourite for generations, including Tomorrow, It's the Hard-Knock Life, and Easy Street along with some new songs showcasing the talent of the IMTS Staff. . With colourful characters, spectacular staging and plenty of heart, this production promises an uplifting evening of theatre for audiences of all ages.

Ilkley Musical Theatre Society has a long tradition of bringing high-quality musical theatre to the local stage, its last show being the spectacular Little Shop of Horrors and Annie continues that tradition with a production packed full of talent, dedication and community spirit.
Performances take place at the Kings Hall, Ilkley from 15th–18th April. Tickets are selling well so get yours from the website www.ilkleymusicaltheatresociety.co.uk and don't miss your chance to see a production that promises to be a truly feel-good theatrical experience.
