Bradford Council’s museums and galleries service is launching an opportunity for young Ilkley creatives to take part in an open exhibition.
The Z OPEN 2025 is an open exhibition opportunity brought to you by the Bradford District Museums & Galleries’ Young Ambassadors ‘Generation Z’ cohort.
An open call for creatives aged 16-25 who live, work or study within the Bradford district to submit their work for the exhibition has been launched this week.
The work of the successful applicants will go on display in the main gallery space alongside other young creatives at Bradford Industrial Museum as part of an exhibition at the end of the year.
Artists are invited to submit up to three of their own works in a medium of their choice, for example printmaking, drawing, photography, sculpture, the crafts, video. The closing date for submissions is 28 September.
There are three age prize categories 16-18, 19-21 and 22-25 years. The winners of the age categories will be announced at a special event on Sunday 7 December, with a Public’s Choice Award winner announced on Sunday 25 January 2025.
The prizes will be awarded courtesy of Friends of Bradford Art Galleries and Museums and exhibition and project is funded by Arts Council England.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places said:
“What better time for our young people to be inspired by art than during the district’s year as UK City of Culture, especially as our stunning Cartwright Hall Art Gallery will be the location for this year’s Turner Prize, offering even more inspiration for budding artists.*
Young artists should submit their artwork via Curator Space by 28 September 2025.
