The Ilkley Library of Things (Ilkley Thingery), the not-for-profit ‘lending of things’ library, repair and well-being project, is seeking new premises in Ilkley for 2026.
This is to avoid an unsustainable annual rent and ensure the continued access to a successful, important, and affordable Community resource.
The organisation needs a premises of roughly 125m² with a clear reception area and ample storage to house its expanding inventory and better serve local demand.
The move is driven by the need to avoid the current site’s annual rent on Church St, a cost that significantly reduces the charity’s ability to continue offering affordable, accessible resources to the people of Ilkley.
The Ilkley Library of Things is inviting landlords, local businesses, community groups and public bodies to discuss partnership or support in securing a suitable location that aligns with its mission of reducing waste, lowering consumption costs for households, and strengthening community resilience. The Library of Things also runs repair workshops and provides important Well-Being Sessions for the community.
The Ilkley Thingery project run by the charity Climate Action Ilkley. If you may be able to help, want to offer premises, or discuss this further, please contact Rob Knipe via email rob.knipe@climateactionilkley.org.uk or Mobile 0771 3838 975.
